My Son

How can it be, my baby boy whom I just rocked to sleep;

now holds his own baby boy, so close with such security?

I still remember your cry, from many years ago;

Rushing frantically through the dark, to sooth your little, frightened soul.

Today I watch as you sooth the cry of your own little son,

Utterly Impressed by the great father you have become.

The little tiny feet which made pitter patter all through my house,

Are the very feet from a long days work, now tired and worn out.

Today as I sit and hold your precious baby boy, my heart skips a beat;

for I see much of my own baby boy, so innocent and sweet.

Moment by moment you continued to grow;

Cherish each one, for they are everything but slow.
